Sudden, high winds can cause significant damage to solar power plants. While various mitigation strategies exist, only scanning wind lidar provides highly accurate real-time wind measurements over a broad area for up to 20 minutes of advance warning. This makes it the most effective mitigation method, allowing operators to stow trackers in time to minimize damage while avoiding unnecessary disruptions.
