Karel de Waal May 5, 2021 Good afternoon Ron & team, Thanks for the effort in publishing this handy map. I managed the South African LDN for 7 years and learned a lot during that time. Using the GLD360 data in applications in the UAE now with Radar data ext. The following are skewing the country results as its presented: -The area of the country play a roll in the final per country result. -The geographical diversity of the country also play a roll in where the most lightning occur. For example: Alaska as part of the US has a high value and should be nearly the same as Canada. In South Africa the North Eastern area have very high lightning density against the South Western areas. (Similarly, I expect over the USA) Swaziland and Lesotho both much higher than SA. Please consider a global lightning density with contours to show the peak areas. The steps can be big not to clutter up the map. Best regards Karel Reply
