Hacking for top talent
Attracting the best minds in tech isn’t just a challenge—it’s a mission. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Vaisala, and to stay ahead, we need the brightest talent out there. We are committed to building a workplace where curiosity thrives, and pioneering ideas take shape. But what really matters to top talent? Instead of guessing, we went straight to the source.
That’s why we joined Talent Hack Day 2025, a hackathon organized by the City of Vantaa, bringing together international talents in the area. Our challenge: how can Vaisala strengthen its employer brand to attract the next generation of experts? The participants—talents themselves—came up with bold, fresh ideas that spoke directly to what they find compelling.
The teams proposed several forward-thinking approaches, including:
- Gamification – Making the hiring process interactive with quizzes and challenges that engage candidates beyond traditional applications.
- Learning opportunities – Providing online courses and workshops to help professionals build the skills needed to succeed at Vaisala.
- Immersive experiences – Virtual Reality (VR) tours of our facilities and interactive sessions with employees to offer a firsthand look at life at Vaisala.
The power of diverse perspectives
With already around 60 nationalities working at Vaisala, we know that diversity fuels innovation. The hackathon proved this point: bringing together international talents resulted in a great number of creative and inclusive solutions. Their ideas challenge us to think differently and push our employer brand further.
From ideas to action
The energy at Talent Hack Day was so inspiring, that we’ve already started discussions on how to bring these ideas to life. As the next step, we’ll host a company visit for the hackathon participants—because great talent deserves a closer look at where they could thrive.
