Vaisala CEO: “It is our responsibility to be a growth company“

We have updated our strategy and long-term financials. As the climate is in an alarming state, it is our responsibility towards our stakeholders – owners, customers, colleagues, and the planet alike – to be a growing tech leader enabling climate action.  

This year, we have redefined our category and purpose to reflect our commitment of Taking every measure for the planet. In our Capital Markets Day on November 11, we presented the Vaisala strategy and long-term targets focusing on driving sustainable and profitable growth with strong cash flow.  

Overall, we have been executing our strategy systematically by growing in industrial measurements and expanding our global leadership in weather. We help customers in more than 150 countries to optimize processes, drive the energy transition, and care for the safety and well-being of people and societies. We have continued developing our operations and resilient supply chain, delivering over 1,400 shipments weekly. None of this would be possible without our great talent and the Vaisala Production System – our secret sauce for efficient and reliable manufacturing of our wide product portfolio.  

During the past strategy period, we have also actively directed a larger part of our R&D investments into new technologies and products. Today, half of our annual R&D spend is used for new opportunities, while the other half ensures the needed maintenance and modernization of our products throughout their long lifecycles.    

As we look towards the future, we aim to explore new markets as well as complementing technologies and competences to speed up growth, with dividends increasing in line with net profit development. We continue investing in technology, research, and development to serve our customers from developers and tech giants to governmental organizations. Moreover, we continuously develop our own ways of working, embracing digitalization and AI as tools to simplify and scale for added profitability as well as customer experience and quality.  

To conclude, fighting climate change remains at the core of our strategy. For us, it is more than a megatrend – it is our reason for being. Reliable measurement data plays a crucial role in helping organizations and societies to understand, mitigate and adapt to climate change. This is where Vaisala’s measurement instrument and intelligence are at its best: bringing solutions to business- and climate-critical challenges, turning numbers to decisions, and decision to impactful actions.
