Natural gas processing: glycol dehydration Natural gas processing consists of separating all the various hydrocarbons and fluids from the pure natural gas to produce what is known as pipeline-quality dry natural gas. It means that before the natural gas can be transported, it must be purified and most of the associated water must be removed. Real-time control of glycol solution concentration In glycol dehydration a liquid desiccant dehydrator absorbs water vapour from the gas stream. During the process, the glycol concentration (usually either Diethylene glycol (DEG) or Triethylene glycol (TEG)) decreases, and water content increases, requiring the glycol loss to be continuously replenished. Vaisala K-PATENTS® Process Refractometer provides in-line measurement of glycol concentration for real-time process control and maintaining the target glycol specification in the stripping and regeneration processes.
