NMP recovery in rechargeable battery manufacturing
N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) with the chemical formula C₅H₉NO is an essential solvent for electrode slurries in secondary battery manufacturing. It dissolves binder materials, ensuring a uniform coating of active material particles on electrode foils. Upon drying, NMP evaporates, leaving a solid, well-adhered coating.
Recovering the toxic and expensive NMP makes sense economically and from a sustainable point of view. Efficiently recovering NMP in production can lead to substantial savings annually.
