KOH Scrubbing of Acid Gas
Industrial enterprises take seriously the treatment of acidic gas emissions.
Wet scrubbing is common and effective way to capture acidic gases. In the scrubber, hydrofluoric acid is removed from the gas by reacting it with a caustic solution, for example, potassium hydroxide (KOH).
Real-time control for the make-up solution of KOH
Vaisala K-PATENTS® Process refractometer is used for continuous in-line measurement of the KOH concentration in two locations:
- addition of fresh KOH feed
- spent KOH line
The in-line measurement ensures safety operation, complete acid neutralization, and that no hydrofluoric acid (HF) acid enters the flare.
